Ballistic armor maker Plasan Sasa Ltd., owned by Kibbutz Sasa, has won a contract to supply its MRAP add-on armor kits to US manufacturer International Military and Government LLC as part of a $623 million Department of Defense tender to up-armor 1,200 vehicles for the US Marine Corps. The armored vehicles will be delivered by the end of February 2008.

Plasan Sasa will supply armored vehicle solutions to increase survivability and mobility, decrease vulnerability, and reduce casualties among Marines operating in combat zones. The company’s MRAP solution will protect the marines and their vehicles from IEDs (improvised explosive devices), RPGs (rocket propelled grenades) and small arms fire on missions, including convoying, troop transportation, casualty evacuation, ordnance disposal, and urban combat operations.

Plasan Sasa CEO Dan Ziv said, “We are very pleased to take part in this important contract. It is a testament to the know-how and extensive field experience we have accumulated over the years regarding protective solutions against mines and IEDs, as well as the unique technologies we have developed - all focused on the protection of personnel and property against the current and future threats faced in the world’s combat zones."

Plasan Sasa and International Military and Government have collaborated in several previous projects. In late 2005, Plasan Sasa won a $100 million contract to supply modular armor kits for 930 Marine Corps’ light tactical trucks.
